I've looked every where and can't find a fix

Hi. I installed avast 7 Saturday. Heres’s my issue. When I scan a file at the end of the scan what i see when i click on completed reports is is pages and pages of error, archive is password protected? That’s it nothing else. There is no way that i can see a completed scan report unless I go to the avst file and under reports the file is there. I can’t find anyone who has had this problem and I’m concerned that if avast finds a infected file I may not be able to see it and take action. But the main issue is i want to see a scan report from the console. What’s the fix? Yeah Thanks.

could you attach some screens shots to show us?

What do you want to see? The archives pages error that comes up when i click the completed scans? If So i have never uploaded a screen shot but I can try? Is this a real mystery? i mean do i need to either try to repeir avast or unninstall and reinstall it? It’s working fine except for this? But if you want a screen shot of that let me know. I just want this fixed.

Which file did you scan…??

Ok i’m attaching a shot of what i see after a completed scan. How this works and is what you want. it’s going to be pages of archive password protected starting with C\bg Body.png

put your mous pointer on the vertical bar just in front of SEVERITY and dragg it sideways so we can see the full file path

Please answer that.

This is what I want to see after a quick or full scan, it’s not a file it’s either a quick scan or a full scan. I can post a quick log file because it comes up error 403 entry too large or i would upload a real log file. A quick scan log file is 1.5mgs. I’m going to copy and paste part of a log file. It didn’t come out all there but i hope you get the point. First am i confusing you guys becaue i don’t know how else to show you what is going on.It’s like ths avast console is not connecting to the avst folder for the scan logs. And I must not be to bright because i don’t understand what this means

this is what i have to go to the avast folder to see?

Sorry, not sure what you want to know…??

Why doesn’t when i click on the date and the scan is ended don’t i see a log file like this? ok what posted was the file that i want to see after the completed scan. Second down below is the file that i don’t care about that i see instead.

This comes up when i want to view the entire scan and i don’t want to see this. I have never had a spyware or antivirus not show me the date, time of the scan how many files and usually the whole log form the first file to the last file. if you still don’t get it tell me this. Does your completed scans come up with the first log. the log that says errors of archives that are password protected?

Any question…??

I am so flustrated. Is it me? I spent three days on the web looking to fix this or atleast see another post and i came up empty. I thought as soon as i posted evveryone would understand what i was seeing and how to fix it. Now if i don’t get a answer Who else can i ask. I’m not happy in that When i first get a new software i want to see that it’s working correctly and there are time that i want to see the scan log. From the console not from the folder. i don’t know what elst to show you. :o

You’ll get an answer, as soon as we understand what you want to know.
Can you please formulate a precise question…!?

This is the log that every antivirus showed me after a quick or full scan. However to see this log because avast does not show it from the console. I need to go to C/documents and settings/all users/avast folder/reports. WHY. This scan log is what i want to see, why doesn’t it show up after a completed scan. Is that better? It’'s a question.

avast! GUI → 2nd option on the left → 3rd menu point
Sorry, I’m on the German version, hope you can find it.

hi mrjohncougar,

Sorry you are having problems.

To see a scan log, open the Avast! gui by double-clicking the icon in the XP system tray by the clock.

Click the ‘Scan Computer’ Tab>click ‘Scan Logs’>highlight the scan recorded you want to see>click ‘Results’. If no action is required by you, the user, there will be no information posted in that scan. This is normal.

Archive files are typically .zip files, WinRAR files, some sort of compressed file. It seems, from what we can see, that all files are password-protected, and as Avast! does not know the password to open it, it is simply reporting that it sees the file but cannot scan it.

Archive files are inert, not active or running on your system until opened by you (double-clicking). No harm can come to your system as long as it remains as an archived file. Avast! File System Shield will run automatically should you ever open an archive file, and block it if it is malicious.

EDIT: Same is true should you ever run a boot-time scan, and Avast! is reporting the archive file is corrupted. File is not corrupted, Avast! cannot open it.

Wait if i understand you right A completed log file like the one below is not generated if the scan was clean? But the error in archives will show up? I’m not worried about the errors in the archives. If that’s true then i need to get used to it because ariva let you see a completed log file after every scan and it didn’t matter the out come. And I was used to opening a report here or there. So one more time so i can get out of your hair. I’m going to need to go into the avast folder if i want to see scans that produced zero infections? if so i won’t bother you people again. I like to see what files were scanned on a new piece of software. However I’ve seen them so it’s not going to be a on going thing. And because both new avasts7 and ariva2013 are having some issues. I figured there was a problem with the software. Hey mchain where were you a hour ago? I’m going away happy if this understood it right. No wonder everyone didn’t understand what the fuss was about. just post to complete this marathon. Sorry I’m ill with a heart problem and out of work and have very little to do. but worry and stress. ;D

Hi,

Yes, you understand it right.

Sorry, can’t be on here 24/7, so patience is sometimes a good requirement to have. When DavidR is here, what you got above is what he probably would say about your concerns. I’m glad his help prior to other new members helped there, and am glad to help you out.

As Avira and Avast! are not the same company, they each will have the user do different/similar actions, and set up their gui (the open Avast! window you see) differently. Nothing wrong with that. You expected Avast! to perform more or less exactly as Avira did, and this is not possible. IMO, Avast! does a better job now than Avira ever did.

Again NP.

Just be patient. As long as Avast! does its core mission, preventing and protecting, you will be fine.

hey i stayed with ariva for five years. the first three were good and i stayed because I felt the protection was better. Arivas guard is fantastic and doen’t need all the shields because it’s shield is like four or five in one. but customer service is terrible. i got tired of being abused. So Here i am and thanks for your patience. I try to figure a problem out on the web and will spend days before i will post. I like this fourm, arivas not so much anymore. 8)
