I've lost hibernation and internet access

Ok about 2 days ago I lost the ability to put my computer into hibernate mode. Decided to give it a scan with spybot search and destroy, then malwarebytes anti malware and both picked up some stuff and removed it. Figured everything was good to go but I still couldn’t go into hibernation. So i restarted my computer with Avast boot-scan, did that, honestly don;t know if it picked up anything but upon coming back to my computer, the system was in windows classic look, I messed around trying to put that back to the XP look, but no luck then to top it off I found out I had no internet. On the taskbar, it just keeps saying acquiring IP address, repair function is useless. I’ve tested the wire with this labtop I’m currently using, so I know its not the wire. Possibly the built in ethernet card but i doubt it, my computer is only 2 months old.
So after all this does anyone have any possible insight to my dilemma?

Overinstallation can solve the problem and you won’t lose your programs, settings, data, files, etc.
Just choose ‘Repair’ installation of Windows and install ‘over’ the old installation.

Hmm possibly the fix I’m looking for, but I hate having to re-do all the updates again. But if I must…
