Java 65 and Software Updater?

I had a Java 7 65 update notification on my x64 Win 7 desktop (which doesn’t run avast!) and updated as normally. Although I am only running the x86 Java version.

However when I checked Software Updater on my x86 Vista laptop (which does run avast!) there was no indication of it being out of date. I presume it was a bit early for the notification.

So I tried to update manually. The download seemed to be interrupted and Java disappeared from both the Control Panel and Software Updater.

I manually uninstalled Java 7 60 from Programs and Features and reinstalled the updated Java 7 65 from the Java downloading page.

Everything seems fine now.

Should I have just waited for avast! Software Updater to indicate when Java should be updated?

It would be useful to know in the future.

Thanks, Dave.

Sometimes it takes a couple of days before the software updater notifies about a new version.
If you know there is a new version, just install it as you would/should do anyway.

OK thanks Eddy.
