Java exploits!

While surfing in the net, my Avast 7 internet Security said it had just blocked a java exploit.
Well, I said, everything is ok. But after that, I saw the white Java icon blinking in the tray bar.
So I wasn’t convinced at all !

In fact, launching a boot scan Avast has just found 4 different Java exploits:

What might have they done to my pc?

Why didn’t Avast manage to prevent the infections to reach my pc?

thanks

I also say that I had the same trouble with Microsoft Security Essentials last year, the difference is tha MSE didnt’ manage to clean the pc!

Non fully updated and/or unpatched java software on your comp could mean a serious security risk!
Hackers launched millions and millions of Java exploits recently (somewhat like 50 million a year).
Do a scan with Secunia Online Software Inspector at http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online/

polonus

Why didn't Avast manage to prevent the infections to reach my pc?
No security program have 100% detection....and if your computer/programs are fully updated/patched it is a big chanse the exploits want work even if not detected

thanks for the answers.

I’ve updated to the latest Java version…

Well I’ve lauched the scan with Secunia and fixed all the trouble, in particular as I said in the last post I’ve updated to the latest Java versions both 64 and 32bit.

But launching scans in this particular directory

C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache

Avast keeps finding Java exlploits

What else can I do?

Another question:

If Avast doesnt’t find these threats on its own but I have to launch a scan, does it mean the threats are not working on my pc?

Thanks and take patience if my English is not perfect as I’m from Italy…

I’ve already uninstalled and re-installed java.

I’ve deleted java temporary files and also chosen not to save java temporay internet files.

now in that particular folder Avast doesn’t find exploits anymore.

Hi Akeman Street,

You’re welcome.
