I noticed this in my e-mail this morning.

OK Java isn’t the greatest, but is the installer really packing a virus?

In your email? Don’t open any suspicious attachments from any email that you don’t know of? If you know it (from a friend) then of course u can trust it, but make sure you confirm it? I think it’s a false positive! Use the false positive reporting feature that is included in avast! 8

As administrator, I just got 4 e-mail notices in quick succession from one user’s PC that tried updating via the JAVA web update.
