I downloaded and installed Chrome version 20.0.1180.60 2 days ago.
When i run a test to see what version of java i have installed at this site http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp
First of i get warning to update Plugin See attachment
But when i Run This time i am told java up to date. See Atachment
Any way i decide to update and when i downloaded it and went to install was told already up to date, would i like to install anyway i did. To my surprise after java version 7 update 5 was installed.
It then went and installed Java FX version 2.1.1.
Then tested chrome no warnings, but i uninstalled Java FX warnings again.
No problems with IE8 or Firefox 14.02.
Just curious if anyone else have had this, as i am thinking of uninstalling Chrome
I certainly haven’t noticed this (but I don’t use Chrome, but firefox).
The question you have to ask yourself, is do you need JAVA at all ?
It isn’t essential (like javascript) and is only required if you visit sites that have JAVA applets, you should probably see a notice to allow JAVA to run and the JAVA icon in the system tray.
I can’t remember if there were any other option in the installation of it, but you should watch the installation like a hawk for any additional pre-checked options.
Downloaded java rebooted, still made no difference with chrome, is still wanting to update, but have got latest version of java.
No java Fx either, which is good. But trying the update plugin in chrome browser is a different story.
I will definitely be uninstalling Chrome.
Just one question with google updater, as this is not listed in add remove, can this be stopped from removing this in schedule tasks.
Edit I have now uninstalled Chrome, and google updater was removed from scheduled tasks.
Thanks DavidR for your assistance and also to you bob3160.
