I was reading some things on a download manager named Jdownloader, and was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of it? It appears from what I read that it is a safe program, but it’s also been accused of being a virus or malware, I know that it’s open source but I wanted some feedback before I try it. Anyone familiar with it, if so please drop a line back! Thanks!!
There really are a lot of download managers out there with a proven history. I really wonder what all the difference is in these new downloaders, as essentially they will be 90% the same functionality. Unless they use proxy servers that compress downloads on the fly and have a decompression routine on your system, I don’t know how they can improve overall download speed.
Then we are down to graphics, pretty interface, the bells and whistles and some minor differences in resume if disconnected, etc.
This one just seems to use JAVA to go about its business, for me that is an additional thing which can be exploited if you fail to keep JAVA (which you have to install) fully up to date.
It simplifies downloading files from One-Click-Hosters like Rapidshare.com or Megaupload.com
Since I rarely use these type of sites the above would be lost, leaving it amongst the also rans.
Thank you for your response, I did Google it and came up with a variety of opinions and facts and I just posed the question here for any additional input. I’m sorry for even asking now, and I must confess that I don’t have the knowledge of some of the more senior members and moderators. I must say that things seem to have changed here, in the past I always called upon this particular forum when I was in a jam or had a concern and guys like Tech were always eager to help and above all patient with those of lesser experience. If someone feels my questions are dumb or stupid then why respond, it’s a waste of time on their part, Fredvries curt response wasn’t necessary and I wished he just ignored me. This has always been the best forum for help…now I’m beginning to wonder.
