Maybe they didn't like their results???? ;D

you mean Network Associates (McAfee); CA is another AV vendor.

Hehe yeah exactly. Damn i got to go outside too, these names are messing with my head  Btw Jotti just got MKS_VIR. Its online, but results are still not counted. Btw2 look the avast! results

It’s getting down right crowded. Any body know who Clam AntiVirus is, that’s a new one on me?

mks_vir ?

Who are they?

Btw2 look the avast! results

looking good

ClamAV is a opensource project ( www.clamav.net ),MKS_VIR is a antivirus made in Poland ( http://english.mks.com.pl/products.html ). Mks_Vir is quiet good as i have heard…

They may be good but, this can’t compete with what Avast! has to offer.

Technical support is provided for registered users, holding valid license for using mks_vir software. Otherwise only information included on this website can be browsed.
None of these people understand that support makes or breaks a product.

Yes I had never heard of MKS. Jotti reckons its good.

Its only scaned 5 files so far but has 100% out of those 5. It will be interesting to see how it does.

Avast is doing OK with detection as well  which is good.

I am suprised that Norman is so low in detection althrough it has excellent sandbox technology. Apparantly though it only scans using the sandbox technology with on demand scanning. not on access. That just woks on defs which is not so good!

I am sticking with Avast. Good detection and a really freindly forum!! Not many places you can get help and support so quickly!

Cheers

Jlo

Look, even avast! can be the only one to find certain nasties
Ok i got to stop monitoring this site otherwise Jotti will kill me

Heh… same here… just love to monitor the results of jotti’s site.
I also tried to up avast’s rating by uploading my samples onto jotti’s site.
Most of them are already uploaded before avast! was added, so it’s not a big difference. Like +3 for avast!

Yea, I have tried mks_vir before. It has extremely cool heurstics and somewhat alright interface. The thing is that it lags at scanning compressed archives / large files. (No file type detection?)

Please do not upload tons of megabytes to this online scanner and download a decent anti virus package yourself.
Why not? ;D Maybe jotti wants all users to upload their files onto his site so people don't need an antivirus proggie? LOL

BTW, Avast Results up’ing… Just a question for the Alwil guys…
Will samples be gathered from jotti’s site to improve detection? Cool!

Most certanly. I used Jotti scanner before to verify samples that i later submitted to Alwil, and now they have their own scanner there

Hi All,

Just checked Jotti site and saw a beagle vaient. Avast detected and F-secure did not!!!
Last piece of malware found was Win32 in beagle.zip, detected by:

Scanner Malware name Time taken
AntiVir X 1.25 seconds
Avast Win32:Beagle-FSG 4.59 seconds
BitDefender Win32.Bagle.10.Gen@mm 3.19 seconds
ClamAV X 6.11 seconds
F-Prot Antivirus X 0.43 seconds
F-Secure Anti-Virus X 3.66 seconds
Kaspersky Anti-Virus I-Worm.Bagle.z 4.68 seconds
mks_vir Win32 4.53 seconds
Norman Virus Control X 7.23 seconds

Only Kasperky, Bitdefender, Avast and MKS detected this one! I am sure F-secure will detect tomorrow when they import the kasperky defs.

Well done Avast!!

Jlo

yeah i just noticed he added MKS  that’s good , now Dr.web really needed to compare with MKS (both got good sensitive heuristic) …

KAV on the lead… Stats reseted… AntiVir attacking avast! (almost)…

Wait for numbers to balance again. I’m sure avast! will take the lead as it did before…

Just did a test of Jotti. Real bad result I must say. :-
Uploaded a .rar file with 592 viruses. Result:

AntiVir : No virus found (11.43 secs)
Avast : No virus found (4.61 secs)
Bitdefender : 417 found (8.33secs)
ClamAV : only found Darth-200 (8,37secs)

F-Prot, F-secure, Kaspersky, mks_vir and Norman where still scanning after 60 minutes, so I interupted it. Seems that Jotti can’t handle .rar files with all scanners or is it the scanners that can’t handle it ???

Scanning the same file with Avast locally only reports the first file as infected and doesn’t scan the rest of the archive. This is already known to Alwil and according to them it will be solved in version 4.5

Unpacking the files and scanning with Avast gave a 100% detection.

I suggest that you never ever again upload such number of known malware.

Gotta test it and there shouldn’t be a problem with a “stress test”

Jotti as well as othre online scanners should be able to handle a packed file with multiple (possible) infections in it. What good is it if you eg want to scan 25 files and you have to do it one at a time… Especially since av scanners are susposed to be able to handle the most common archive types.

i just looked at MKS forum . the administrator has only been a member since august 19 so it looks like they are fresh outa the box. Forum has total membership of 9 users ;D ;D ;D
