JS Agent BA Trojan - what do i do once its in the avast chest???

Help! My avast! antivirus has it locked in the chest but i dont know whether i should delete the file, remove, refresh, repair…??? What do i do with it now???

You have done the right thing, ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.

There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, a protected area where it can do no harm. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a few weeks. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.

A bit late but I have the same issue.
I was closing down Firefox (no issues) and I got a message that avast found a virus in the in a folder somewhere in a Firefox profile which I have a hard time understanding since I don’t have a profile.

oh well, I sent it to the chest, updated MBAM and SAS Scheduled a boot time scan with Avast and then ran both SAS and MBAM with no problem.

here is what Live OneCare have to say about it:

I’ll wait a few weeks as suggested by DavidR and then delete.

I suggest you upload the file to http://www.virustotal.com/ and check it if is a virus ifnot you can send it to avast so they can improve there detection of virus and so on.

good luck.

You do have a profile, even if it is the default profile ;D

Check the C: Docs & Settings, User name, Application Data, Mozilla, Firefox, Profiles, see image.

Thank you both for the reply (DavidR and mikaelrask)

I’ll do this sometime in the next week but for the moment I am not going to be able to do that.

I was no aware of that. :o
Thanks for the info. I’ll now look a bit deeper into it. Kind of curious to see what the purpose of this profile is

You’re welcome.
