Tonight while running a thorough scan of my PC with Avast, it detected a “virus” which it called, “JS: Classloader - 7”. I told Avast to delete it, but I can’t find very much information about it on the internet. Has anyone here ever had it or know what it is? Thanks.
Thanks for the info. I secure IE by using Tools/Internet Options/Advanced - correct? Not sure I’ve ever checked those options before so I can’t remember exactly where they are. :-\
Is there a way to disable Microsoft java if you already have it installed and replace it with Sun Java? Thanks.
I think you should have looked at the creation date of this topic over three years ago, when MS JVM was still available.
Now MS JVM isn’t available on windows update or MS Downloads, no matter what your Operating system is.
Why can’t you get the latest JAVA is there not a version that still supports win9x or winME ?
What version do you have ?
Ensure you have the latest version of JRE (JAVA Runtime Environment) because older versions can be vulnerable to malware. First remove All Older Versions From Add/Remove Programs.
I would say don’t so this until you check that you can get a version that supports older OSes, if you can’t I have no idea how you might make JAVA secure, short of updating your OS so you can get a recent version of JAVA. Security will always be a problem with older OSes which are no longer supported, even by MS and you will find the same problem with security applications, many AVs (avast is an exception) don’t support win98.
