JS:Cryptonight

Hi, new to the forum and to Avast as well…

Im not a computer wiz at all but changed what I had to AVAST and its definitely made things faster and stuff on my PC, so far so good.

My question is, ive read up on that JS:Cryptonight and it doesn’t sound good. But now that its blocked my download speed on what im trying to do is really bad and I assume its because its blocked now. Is there a way to temporarily disable it, then when im done rescan and have it removed?

Hi.

Welcome.

Are you saying Avast is repeatedly blocking JS;Cryptonight?

If so, see: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=194892.0

Attach your logs in your next reply.

yeah… Will letting Avast bock that usually result in slow download?

Avast is blocking Cryptonight because it is a miner .js script and will always use your system resources against your wishes. You can already see evidence of it with your download speed.

As with any malware, the potential for a more serious infection does exist. You want to fix it while you can.

If you wish help, submit the logs requested in your next reply. See the link above for information.

I guess im asking is there a way to turn it off or pause it until im done, then rescan to get rid of it? Like adblock, sometimes you cant view stuff till you pause it, then turn it back on after you are done. If that makes sense.

Not recommended. Avast can’t be faulted for doing it’s job.

Up to you to get help.
