  1. When will there be an official announcement about Avast 6.0.1000?

  2. My copy of Avast tells that it is v.6.0.1000 but PSI states it is v.6.0.999. Where’s the truth?

The new website at http://www.avast.com/index is about as official as it is going to get, with everything now pointing at the latest v6 release. I think the correct version is whatever you see on your screen-where did you get your copy?

  1. Already people are being notified on their avast update checks that a new version of avast is available, that version is 6.0.1000 the first release version of avast 6.

  2. There never has been a 6.0.999 released to the public either in the beta builds or regular release. The last beta/RC version of avast was 6.0.992 before going live on 6.0.1000.

So this would appear to have been an internal build number and the file properties version number may not have been updated, but this isn’t something that I would be worried about.

Our users got used to read announcements made by Vlk with brief summary of new features, improvements and fixes in new releases. Version 6.0.1000 was released without such announcement and it was very unusual. As for my copy of Avast: it was downloaded from one of the official Avast downloading mirrors.
