Just asking...please don't get hostile

I have Avast! free, and am thankful for the program, because like so many Americans, I am poor right now. I know the promo popup is part of the “price” for the free use, and I plan to upgrade to pro as soon as I can. PLEASE don’t get hostile with me! I always try free programs and I always upgrade if I like them, because my husband is a programmer, so I know how hard the work is to create and keep these things upgraded.

The problem is that the “Avast has been updated” voice is announcing twice now, once without and once with the popup. I don’t mind it so much when I first turn the computer on in the morning, but sometimes it does it when I’m watching a video, which can get annoying. I love that the program updates during the day, but is there any way I can turn that off when I’m watching a video so I don’t have that voice and popup come on? OTHER than upgrading, which I will do as soon as I can.

Thank you!

That double update notification is a bug which has been acknowledged and will fixed in the next program update. It is already fixed in the current beta trial versions, so when the regular program update gets released it will be resolved.

There are many such topics in the forums.

Welcome to the forum. If you’re looking for hostility, you’ll need to ask your question on a different forum.

I’ve been using the free version since 2003 but I’m sure Avast would be happy if you decided to spend some money.

Hope the following answers your question:

You can turn off the update sound…

Hi amiew,

The so-called bug you mentioned has been “cured” with the new beta version. It was more of a programming glitch than a bug actually. Europeans find themeselves in a similar economic situation as Americans do to-day and I hope these days of stagnation/stagflation will soon be over and we will all again experience better days ahead of us. And always look on the bright side of life, 'cause we have avast and others haven’t…
