Just got charged without knowing

I just checked my paypal and it says that I’ve confirmed a purchase for 75 euro for Avast premier. I never gave up any card information upon registering or at any circustance what so ever. What do I do? help please.

I registered for the 60 day free trial, it was by no means meant for a purchase. I have cancel the renewal thing but this is a big missunderstanding as I only wanted to try the trial period. What can I do to get a refund for the money I was charged? Also I don’t understand how I can be charged without having entered my credit information.

See my previous reply.

I did see it and I canceled the auto-renewal if that is what you’re referring to.

Didn’t you have to enter your payment details to partake in the 60 day trial ?
That has been the case for some considerable time, so after 60 days the payment would be processed.

No I didn’t. The only information I gave up was my mail, nothing else.

Then follow the advice/information on the FAQ article (link) that Eddy gave.

I just don’t know how they (anyone) could set up a paypal payment authorisation without your input based only on an email address. If they could that really would be a security failing on the part of paypal. If it is anything like my paypal payment authorisations I have to sign in to paypal to authorise the payment.

Users need to give payment details (which can be Paypal) and are authorizing the automatic payment if they take the 60 days trial or they will not get it.
After the 60 days it will be automatically become a paid subscription unless the user disables it within the 60 days.

That’s the thing, I always get redirected to Paypal whenever I make a purchase, however this was not the case. I don’t know if the fault is on paypal or avasts end.

There is no fault.
You not have to be taken to Paypal to provide the authorization.

I did not go through any type or payment form, yet I was charged. This should not happen. Hence why I’m requesting a refund.

I managed to get a refund, though I still have the 1 year antivirus? Is it going to get removed or?

Unless avast tells otherwise, your subscription has ended and you will can not use the paid version anymore unless you pay for it.

Hi,

It is not possible to join the 60-days trial without providing a payment method. Do you have Paypal Express or Paypal One-click enabled? If I am not mistaken, Paypal may not request confirmation sometimes if you have such setting enabled (I personally have it enabled at my computer at home and Paypal never asks me for further confirmation there when purchasing something).
Nevertheless, to get this trial you must have selected Paypal as payment method.
I don’t see your order to be refunded (yet). Did you request the refund to Paypal directly? If so it can take few days to be shown in our systems.

Yes Paypal refunded me, also I never got redirected to the paypal page when getting the free trial. I have the one click i believe however i never got to the page i usually get to when making a payment with paypal.

At the time you authorize payment, there isn’t anything to redirect. Since you have one click enabled, once you go past the 60 day trial, it auto triggers the payment . That’s what the one click option is all about. It makes things easier but, you need to understand the pitfalls.

I too was charged with the auto payment that I did not request… therefore I want to cancel the product and have my money refunded… is there a number I can call to take care of this?
