Hello,
I just purchased a new computer today and one of the first things I did about an hour ago was uninstall the trial anti virus software that it came with and navigated to avast.com and downloaded and installed the latest free avast version: 2015.10.3.2223 as I’m a loyal avast user on my older laptop. I also updated my older laptop to this current version.
However, on my brand new laptop computer, the avast popup when you place the cursor over the orange round icon is different. Instead of it saying “Avast Free Antivirus You Are Protected” in large white font inside a large green square as it does on my older laptop with the same version, it states “Avast Antivirus: Your system is secured” in plain small text within a small rectangular window. Just as a normal popup as if I clicked on any of the other icons in the system tray.
The second thing I noticed is the new computer’s avast installed pre-registered, it says “You are registered” and that is it. I don’t have any current status or expiration date or any of that underneath, instead it goes straight to the insert activation code for paid avast then the avast cleanup section.
Did I get the correct avast when it downloaded? Or is this some kind of new version that only new computers can get?
Other than that, it seems to be the same as the 2015.10.3.2223 on my older laptop. Oh I also received 500 points right off the bat, and it has a link to “sign in” right next to it in the overview page. I never received points before.
Thanks for anyone who can assure me I’m ok and protected. The download link began with iavs9x.u.avast.com which was the first part of the link in my google chrome download history ( I’m too lazy type the whole thing.)
