Just moved over to Avast Antivirus and installed it on a Win10 Laptop.
The Update for both Antivirus Database and Program is dated 26/06/2017.
When trying to Update I keep getting a message telling me ‘error encountered’ and the Update will not download/install.
I have checked the Proxy Settings and made them ‘Direct Connection (no proxy)’ but when I close the program down and then restart it, the Proxy Settings shift to ‘Specify proxy server’!
Can anyone assist with resolving these ‘problems’ please?
Nope. I am having the same problems since I updated today. Sometimes it chooses to update virus definitions, sometimes not. Biggest, BIGGEST mistake. I am beginning to loathe this program. Every time I update there are are more issues than I care to count. So, here is my big reveal…it is the last version I will ever use on my current system (Vista x64, not that it should matter. It is advertised as WORKING on all windoze from XP to 10! Well, it doesn’t. It has more bugs, flaws and surprises than a roach breeding laboratory. That it works for the majority of users is not enough.). As for changing DNS, why? It’s security software I installed via an update…that means it worked to download and update virus definitions, ONCE, then decided to wander off on a twerk of its own. To add to the misery the web script analysis is suspect in firefox, and the known issue in Vista of https scanning should NOT be an issue at all. It installed itself on Vista and should recognize that fact. It’s not rocket science to appreciate where one resides. I’m gone, and after this version Avast is too.
