HI my sister has a windows Vista laptop that she says is extremely slow. I am suspecting a virus infection. I am just wondering if i could ask some questions please. what I would like to now is what is the best way to start to look for an infection on her laptop. If I have to start the laptop in safe mode will Otl Malwarebytes free, adwcleaner, aswMBR I was wanting to now if they will run in safe mode or should I run these programs in normal mode on the laptop. I just thought I should ask because I have never run these scanning tools in Safe mode before and I would not want to cause any blue screens of death. How do I convince my sister that everything will be all right with her laptop in terms of putting the following logs in the virus and worms section for people that are malware experts and not people that could wreck her laptop and to tell her everything will be fine with her laptop. She has never scanned her laptop for viruss and threats before and submitted the logs to the avast virus and worms section before. I am the computer guy to help when everyone is having trouble or issues with their computers.

My sisters laptop is Windows Vista

Yes, they also run in safe mode.

She likely has a lot of things loading/running that are not needed.

I was just wondering if I run these programs in safe mode will they still scan every file on the laptop and still give an accurate reading just like they were scanning in Normal windows mode.

thanks

Don’t worry. Just run them and attach the logs to a post here.

Can I run these programs in normal windows is their any reason why I could not I would hate to get more viruses on her laptop.

Thanks very much for the advice guys

Yes, if possible run them in normal mode.

If you remembers her laptop I will post the logs on this thread instead of making a new one ok. Thanks a lot guys for your advice I appreciate it a lot.

You’re welcome.
