I was surprised when reading one of the news release from my university board. It said that Kaspersky lab has donated 8000 units of KTSS license to my university (worth about 300 thousand dollars).
I read here: http://www.ugm.ac.id/index.php?page=rilis&artikel=2321 in Indonesia language, you may use google translator to translate it.
Since about a couple months Kaspersky Lab has entering Indonesia by the first international AV vendor which promote his product via TV commercial breaks and getting MOU from about 5 biggest universities in Indonesia. It is a very drastically move if I may say so.
Will Avast do the same ;D ?
Hi Cahya,
As avast representative for Indonesia,
Of course we shocked with kaspersky did, but in terms of marketing strategy everyone have their object target and business plan.
Actually, avast has did the free antivirus for whole worlds and we can see at http://blog.avast.com/2009/08/04/can-you-trust-free-anti-virus/
But in terms of customer approach, i agree that Eugene Kaspersky come to visit to end user, partner and distributor in Indonesia.

Just as a bit of information:
A friend of mine called me the other day with a problem on his windows 7 installation.
It turned out to be an incompatibility between Kaspersky and the applications he was running on his Windows 7 System.ast!
He’s now running avast! and his incompatibility issue is resolved.
Sometimes you do have to look a gift horse in the mouth… ;D ;D ;D
Thanks for the info Bob,
Well, I guess I do not know how my university will use it, cause all the computers and systems are Linux powered. Maybe they would give it to staffs or students
I’m glad avast! already compatible with the lastest windows
Well Cahya,
Good luck to you that you already using avast antivirus and maybe you can promote to your university to switch off kaspersky become avast!. But of course that will need work hard and time to reach that.
