Kaspersky is giving me problems

I installed a trial version of Kaspersky AV pro, and then I uninstalled it once the trial period ended. However, when I start Avast 4.6 AV home edition, it says that it detected Kaspersky service, therefore, will shut off p2p shield, instant chat shield and some other shield. Anyone know how I can “completely” remove Kaspersky from my laptop? I removed Kaspersky using add/remove section of Windows XP home edition.

To remove absolutely all traces of Kaspersky from the registry, use this:

  1. Delete Avast
  2. Delete Kaspersky completely (use CCleaner and CleanUp!)
  3. Reboot
  4. Install Avast
