I keep getting this message that Avast users don’t trust ANT video downloader. Is there a way to turn this off. I have no idea why people would have a problem with a simple video downloader unless they didn’t read the messages in the installer and ended up installing all kinds of other crap. But this is getting annoying that I keep getting messages about a perfectly safe piece of software that I have used for years
You can upload the file(s) to virustotal.
If they come up clean then you can report false positives here http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php
it’s a firefox addon, no idea how to upload that to virustotal. however I click the download button to install on my computer and then copied the download link for the file, and scanned it…it says that the file for the download was scanned. I clicked on the following…File scan: Go to downloaded file analysis…and it said Probably harmless! There are strong indicators suggesting that this file is safe to use. In the list of all the virus scanners underneath it there are all green check marks. Avast is also green checked there, yet I still get the message.
Not sure what to do or how to turn off the message, but it seems like it is safe.
Hi rye_encoke,
I believe that message comes from the Browser Cleanup Tool.
See https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=150974.0 for instructions to disable/uninstall.
That…seems like it is the likely problem. Will do as the post suggests and give it a day or two and report back.
I am fairly confident though after reading through that post that this will indeed fix my problem.
