Keep getting 'threat secured' popup whenever I do anything on Youtube

Since today, I can’t do anything on Youtube without Avast giving a Threat Secured popup every time I click on anything.

For some reason it won’t let me copy the details section and I don’t see an option to share a screenshot here, so I can’t share the full details, but the domain of the URL that gets blocked is yt3.ggpht.com, the threat name is URL:Fishing and the process is firefox.exe.

Virus scans don’t show up anything, and I already deleted all youtube-related cookies, to no avail. What can I do to stop this annoying popup?

Since you weren’t trying to connect to yt3.ggpht.com, something on the site you were visiting had a link to that site (or something in firefox) and avast blocked it.

  • Since you weren’t intending to visit the site:
Start by clearing your browser cache and cookies, including 3rd party cookies and restart your browser.
If that resolves it you should be good to go.
If it doesn’t try running your browser with add-ons disabled.

If that resolves it, have you added or updated any add-ons ?
If so try disabling that add-on - and restart and try again.

A screenshot of the Avast alert with the Details option enabled could help.

  • Attaching Images to your post - When you Click the Reply button it opens a text window for you to post your comment (reply or post).
Click the Preview button, that shows what you have input and expands it to include ‘Attachments and other options’. Click that it further expands, here you can attach images, etc. at the bottom of your post.
See my attached image, click to expand.

As say an old redit post, is a domain for google photos, profile pictures and thumbnails
Used by streamers when their videos have their channel photo at a corner of video
