If, while browsing through a list of recent posts (say, “unread since last visit”) I see something that looks interesting and click it…
And if indeed the thread should prove interesting, and engage my attention for some minutes (perhaps, also, a link or two further widens my straying) on returning to my start page, I regularly have no idea where I started my digression.
Some way of marking or indicating posts that have been clicked on would be helpful.
Or am I missing a trick, here, say, in my browser settings?
You can track: unread posts and unread replies to your posts.
I don’t think it is possible to track browsing using the forum.
Firefox has extension that could keep your history.
I do use the back button - and with a five-button mouse.
I don’t get lost within the thread, but forget which Subject caught my eye in the list of Subjects resulting from a search.
It’s now sounding heavier than it really is, but with, say, a Google search, when back at the Results page, it needs but a glance to see which links have been clicked (because the colour is changed); with this forum (and one other that I visit), with every return to the list, I have to actually read the titles to dismiss those that I have read, which can get tedious, with, e.g.,
“5.1.845 Free AV registration is repeating itself
(falls in a loop)New in Beta”
or,
“Automatically Deleted File Causing Popup At
Startup New « 1 2 3 » in avast! Free/Pro/Suite”
or,
“2009 TaylorMade Tour Preferred Irons Who
Developed Golf Courses Have Eighteen Ho
New in avast! Free/Pro/Suite.”
My most successful method yet, is to open a subject in a new window, having noted the position on the list page (at the top… at the bottom… etc,).
Not to worry: my innate laziness, and quest for a hassle-free life, will never be fully satisfied; but thank you for your interest and comments.
