I get a Network Shield warning (varies between every 15 minutes to half an hour) that a malicious site was blocked. This comes up as:
dns://jhmscvfvfeuvhvvaapspp.cn
Prior to installing Avast, my Internet Explorer (which I NEVER use… I’m a Firefox guy) would go on the internet and download tons and tons of cookies and totally bog down my computer.
I wouldn’t say I’m computer technically inept, but I’m light years short of Geek Squad knowledge, so if it’s a kind of simple fix… If anyone could help (please!)
The network shield blocks attempts to connect to sites with known malicious content and I would say that a Chinese domain with this random sort of name is highly suspect.
So avast is saving your bacon by blocking the attempt to connect to malicious sites, what we have to find now is what it trying to connect to these sites.
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode and report the findings (it should product a log file).
