KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE Windows 10

:frowning:
Stupid, I know, but when I was on abc.com, I couldn’t watch a tv program until I downloaded, though their site, a new Flash Player. So I did. Since then, every 20 minutes or so the system goes to a KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE blue screen, and I can only turn off my computer with the power button. I’ve done a few full system scans with Avast, and nothing is found. I’d do a System Restore, but I learned that Windows 10 doesn’t have it enabled. I sent a support request to Avast several days ago, but the only reply they’ve sent is “we received your request .” I don’t know what to do . Please help!

  • Remove the flash player
  • Cleanup the registry
  • Reboot and check if everything is gone
  • Install the official flash player from the Adobe website

In other words, there’s no easy fix and I can’t do it myself.

What I suggested to do is easy.

@evollbach,

I done a system restore on another desktop computer running win 10 around 2 weeks ago and it fixed my problem.

Yes, I’d love to do a system restore. But Microsoft doesn’t enable it on Windows 10.

Where is flash player so I can remove it?

How do I clean the registry?

It’s enabled on all 3 of my windows 10 computers.

@evollbach: can you please send me latest minidump (\windows\minidump folder) to kurtin@avast.com? Thanks.

That folder is empty

I take that back. That folder is not empty. This was my father’s computer. He just died, and now I’m using windows 10 for the first time. I’ll send it if the computer doesn’t crash again.

I read about that. Seems some computers with Windows 10 got System Restore, and others don’t have it enabled to save disk space.

I still can’t send the contents of that folder. When I try, I get “File upload. You don’t have permission to open this file. Contact the file owner or administrator to obtain permission.” Since this was my father’s computer, and he died, I have to figure this out.

It’s enabled on all 3 of my windows 10 computers.
