Do I need a new key?
It says never expire, I don’t understand.
I am rumming the beta and I heard not to use program update cause it will go to the current release version.
Off hand, I would say your key has expired. Look at the last line. The “never”, I believe is for the program itself, the registration key is for updates. The product will still work, just not update. For the home version the key is free.
If you read your own image it shows that the license never expires but what does expire are the Updates (no more virus signature updates) and your expired on May 1st 2006. Whilst the wording on the error mentions license it in this case refers to updates.
So all you need to re-register as has been suggested and you can get the free updates again.
So whilst you are waiting for AVG for vista you would compromise your system with a VPS version that is currently 4 months out of date, for a re-registration that would take seconds. I can seen now why you are bashing your head on the computer.
The reason for the re-registration is it helps Alwil with the number of active avast users, this ensures that they have adequate servers to deal with program and VPS updates, so you don’t suffer from the hassle with AVG’s update servers. This was a major reason for my search for another anti-virus and switch to avast, I couldn’t get on their update servers and it was slow, slow, slow.
Not to mention AVG isn’t as good as avast IMHO and a number of reviews, notably av-comparatives.org where AVG is rated ‘Standard’ and avast is rated ‘Advanced.’ Not to mention getting support with AVG free when compared with the response you get here, sorry I just can’t see the logic in this for the want of re-registering.
Yes, it is really hard and difficult to get a new key…so I understand that you don’t want to get thru all this pain…
Nah, I’m just kidding little, but as David says, it just take seconds to get a new key, so I don’t understand that you are so lazy, and don’t want a much better antivirus-prg than AVG IMHO
