Key generator down?

Key generator down?

I’ve been trying to 2 keys for the home version for customers of mine. (they are home/non commercial users)
But whatever email address I try, I can’t get a key for the last 2 days.

I checked everything. No mail at all from Alwil.

Could be, I have noticed there have been a few posts very recently were people hadn’t received the registration key email.

Works fine, after 5 minutes I’ve got my registration key. It was almost 4 months left, but re-registered to check the problem. I don’t think it’s down. :-\

Still not received a key. Tried again today, (3 hours ago), still nothing.

I just register for a new key again and got the Key less than 5 minutes. It’s fine for me. :-\

Still nothing. Looks to me like Alwil doesn’t want to send a key to certain email adresses.
Ah well. I’m gonna use a old key for the home version which I used myself a long time ago on these systems.
If that’s what they want, they will get it.

Yes I’m pissed atm.

Eddy, do you realy thing this is a case for blaming? ::slight_smile:
I mean, couldn’t the problem be at your ISP as other users are receiving the key easily?

Tech, it always worked without problems.
I checked everything ofcourse before posting and it is not a problem with my ISP or my systems.
I don’t run any spam killer and both email addresses I used are working perfectly.
I’m 100% sure the problem is at Alwil’s side.

I don’t like using 1 key on several systems (although with the home version it doesn’t matter much).
I like to give each customer of mine his/her own key. (after I made sure that they are entitled to use the home version)

The email addresses used are 1 on rocketmail and one on Yahoo.
I’ve tried it with my own yahoo mail account with the same result.
No key

No down at all, we have huge number of registrations daily. Typically, this is a spam filter problem. Some ISP even don’t accept ANY emails from the .cz domain as they consider them all spam :-\

Vlk, as I said it is not a problem with my ISP nor my system or email addresses.
I’ve checked and double checked.
I can recieve emails form a .cz domain fine without any problems.
I’ve even checked with someone in Havlickuv Brod
It really isn’t a problem on my side.

Well, please believe us that we don’t specifically filter your e-mail address…
Since hundreds (thousands? no idea) of registrations are processed every day without any problems, it really seems that the problem is rather somewhere on the way.

Very strange.
I’ve tried 3 different email accounts from 3 different providers.
I’ve tried them at home as well as in my store as well as in a cybercafé.
Still no keys.
And as I said in another thread, I received a email from Karel.
That show that I can receive emails from Alwil just fine.
This is really weird…

I’ve recently registered avast for one my friend using her yahoo mail account. I took about 15 minutes to recieve the key.

Think I better get some help from these guys ;D

That’s weird, at first I thought maybe the registration has been tweaked to recognise those who have previously registered by the IP address from which they register (rather than just the email address you use). Since you have used different locations to register there would be different IPs so that can’t be it.
Is it possible if you have you have used the same email address previously to register that this has an effect (would need avast input here also)?
Have you tried registering it using the email address of the people you are installing it for (they could forward it to you, if they have an email address and obviously a computer) or have them insert the key later, and you set it up to use the demo key?

I’ve tried their email addresses. Got the keys.
But when using rocketmail or yahoo address still no keys.
Starting to look like now as if Yahoo has something wrong, although it always worked.

At least you got the keys and now know that the Key Generator is working in sending them out.

Eddy

Bet if you looked in your Bulk folder, you'd find the keys. ;D

Neah, nothing therer either. Already checked that. To be sure I evne removed all spam addresse from the blocked list. Still nothing the last days. Tried a couple of times. No key.

Today I tried again and suddenly it is working. Nothing changed here.

Maybe your ISP was refusing the email because of something like “mailbox full”?

This is actually quite a common thing with the registration keys. The problem is that there’s absolutely no way for us to notify the user, as email is the only contact info we’re using (and is supposed to work)…

Thanks
