I’m running the Avast Security Suite (latest release) and was curious how effective it is against keyloggers? Would something additional be recomended like Zemana Antilogger? When I do anything like online banking etc. I usually switch Firefox to private browsing but I am just curious…cheers… 8)
avast does detect keyloggers, however there are many legitimate keyloggers and a keylogger is a tool which can be used for good or evil and it is this intent which is hard to determine.
Personally I have never felt the need to install an anti-keylogger as I don’t think that the keylogger risk is that great. You however may have a different opinion and your choice should be based on what you believe the risk is. The general idea would be prevention rather than have an application which confirms or prevents a keylogger doing its dirty work. Next would be a good firewall to prevent unauthorised internet access (should a keylogger get on to your system) as any keylogger has to phone home to upload any data gathered.
Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned, I do put Firefox in private browsing when I do any secure stuff and have Avasts firewall with the suite so I should be OK. I also am running Prevx until my license runs out in nine months and may renew…who knows… :o
That sounds a reasonable setup, though I don’t know if I would go with Prevx as resident. There are other resident options such as SAS and MBAM which are a single one of payment to get the resident anti-spyware/malware protection. Using one of those as resident and the other as a non-resident on-demand scanner, see my signature.
Keyloggers programs still recording everything you click in keyboard, and what you do. Private browsing NOT prevent keylogger functions.
I also run Keyscrambler Personal… 8)
