So far, two Steam games on my PC have had their main EXE files removed as potential viruses.
MedievalEngineers64.exe
RisingWorld64.exe
Both are flagged as IDP.Generic
I don’t want to exclude the entire Steam Common folder to make sure my games remain untouched as an infection by a real virus in the future could prove disastrous. However, it does seem that Avast is seeing 64 bit game files as a threat. I have attached a jpg of the virus chest screenshot. This shows that I managed to reinstate the MedievalEngineers64.exe, only to have it removed again. The worst part is that I was playing both these games along with others and saved my progress, only to have it remove the main exe file when I tried to load it again later on. Also, a Steam DLL is being flagged for some reason.
When I attempt to restore or restore and add to exclusions from the virus chest , it does nothing. If I manually add to exclusions and try to restore the file by validating the files in Steam, it tells me “content file is locked” and refuses to download it.
