Just quick note because I am waiting in another forum for a reply. thought I just say I do not know how any one even with a lot of computer knowledge witch is not me I can to it on and back off is about all. :D how can you keep track of so many poionus. I will for sure look at it. thanks Sham1313
Thanks for the link, Polonus.
Why isn’t avast! listed in their “Most Effective Antivirus Tools” section ???
15th 75% 221 Avast_Missed_MD5s.html Avast ALWIL Software [Czech Republic] www.avast.com
It is there Bob you just have to click on show me more, but I agree it should be the first thing you see on the list
I particularly like the disclaimer:
1. All antivirus binary analysis results are provided via www.virustotal.com.If I remember correctly (from another of Polonus' useful posts i think) this means the full capability of the AV is not used
2. Each binary is submitted for evaluation within 24hrs of our harvesting it live from the Internet. Each antivirus tool is only given this one attempt to detect the binary. Our intention is to evaluate how the antivirus tools are performing against the latest malware on the Internet, at least from the narrow vantage point of our honeynet.ONE attempt, what about waiting for later updates, for a longer time?
3. Please be aware that most antivirus vendors WILL be able to detect the malware binaries listed in the missed set, usually within a few days. Therefore you should not view an antivirus tool's missed binaries list as a reflection of its current detection coverage. Rather, it is only a list of binaries that were missed at the time of our evaluation. They said it themselves, 'usually within a few days' How relevant is this section???
Just my take on that part, good link though, thanks Polonus ;D

Usually just by fixing other’s programs / computers, and by using google search.
I’m not going to attest to how polonus get’s his updates.
In order to be a computer tech, it takes a lot of time and dedication to reading, studying, and experience.
We are “doctors” of the computer world. Just as doctor’s need to keep up with new medicines and diseases, we do the same for computers.
I guess it is the same as car mechanics and any other technician as well (TV Repair, Audio Repair, etc. etc. etc.).
