Ko3C11T6.exe running process

Hi, I’ve been here before, I got GREAT advice but I wasn’t good at following it :-[

Anyway, Ko3C11T6.exe is a running process. Can I just click End Process? Will that make it go away? haha Or make it worse?
I searched for this and the only thing that came up was my previos post here on these forums. I’m the only one with this?? Help! Please.

jc

No it won’t make it go away it will be back on the next boot unless you also remove the registry entry that runs it on boot (using HiJackThis).

Before you even consider that you should determine what it actually is.

I did a google search and surprise, surprise the only reference is to your previous post in the forums, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=37995.msg319330#msg319330.

So that would be a good place to start as you either didn’t get rid of it last time or its back, which is strange as the name looks randomly generated and the only google hits are relating to the above link.

In that you uploaded this file ti VirusTotal confirming it was malware and you should have sent the sample to avast, did you do that ?

 Hi JC :

Just read through your previous Thread and was amazed that no One
Commented that you had BOTH Avast AND Norton on your computer !?
Except under unusual circumstances ( Avast & Norton together do NOT
“qualify” ), having 2 antiVIRUS programs on a computer at the same time is a
security no-no . You should uninstall Norton, including use of its “Removal
Tool” which is available at several Sites . And your “Situation” would Best be
looked at by a certified “Malware Removal Specialist”, the Only One of those
on these Forums is “essexboy” .

I have to say I take exception to your comments, yet again you rubbish this forum. If you have nothing constructive to say then say nothing.

There are others who have a good knowledge of malware removal and have been to the G2G academy :stuck_out_tongue:
Also had jc81 followed the instruction given in her previous post then that problem would have been history.

I’m amazed that You didn’t Notice that polonus Did not only comment on it but also gave a link to the Symantec removal tool. So I suggest that do due diligence that you accuse others of not doing and RTFT(opic)

Spiritsongs is the forum ambulance chaser.

Hi my fellow malware fighters,

It is always a sorry thing that we give cleansing suggestions and then these are not followed up completely, better that the victim asks why or for what reason we tell them to do things, another explanation or a step by step instruction, so the end result is the malware cleansed from that particular machine. Also it is important to give the victim instruction as to the best possible ways to avoid re-infection and that only asks for a couple of behavioral adjustments *know what you click, * scan if your clicks will be secure, * update & patch what is critical to do (Pecunia PSI tool), * use only one resident anti-virus solution eventually combined with * non-resident anti-malware programs (Comodo BoClean and SuperantiSpyware for instance). * Use a firewall and finally * use the brains available in between the keyboard and the chair,

polonus

The reason I didn’t follow all of the instructions is because I have no idea what I’m doing. I can’t even comprehend half of what you all tell me. Sad, but true. I guess what I really need to know is…where can I find someone IRL who will help me & how much will it cost? lol

Ouch. I’m sorry Polonus. I didn’t mean to waste your time or anything. I TRIED to follow what I could. =(
Some people just shouldn’t own computers haha.

Try printing out the various instructions and try to follow then a step at a time whilst you aren’t on-line and as polonus said, if there is something that isn’t clear or you don’t know what to do ‘ask.’

When you look at all the different instructions as a whole yes it can be daunting, but taken one step at a time it isn’t so much of a problem and we will help.

Thanks David. But if I’m in the middle of doing it & get stuck I’d have to stop what I’m doing to get online & ask, then I’d probably have to start all over again?

But anyways, the first thing I should do is uninstall Norton??

You have to start somewhere even if you have to start over and yes getting rid of Norton is right up there.

A link worth looking at, which is a program removal tool that can remove the remnants of a number of different Norton Programs:
Removing your Norton program using SymNRT

Or ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

Is there a simple way to do this? Even if it means wiping out my hard drive & just starting from scratch? What about the thingy on the computer that goes back to a restore point? Will that do anything??

Firstly I have never done this as I wouldn’t have Norton on my system, so I can’t talk from experience only that many people have been given the same link and didn’t appear to have that much problem.

The first link does provide instructions and it is a case of following them, if necessary print them so you can refer to them.

The second link is a file that is downloaded and run from your system, and is much like running any normal program file but it should remove any remnants, but again I have never had to run this.

Wiping out your Hard Drive is far from simple and you would have to back-up all data, files, programs (security ones), email account settings, etc. that you don’t want to lose and formatting or reinstalling your OS and formatting an existing partition could possibly leave you in a worse position a totally non-functioning system.

Starting from scratch is so easy to say, but is a right royal pain in the rear. Assuming you get over the hurdle of backing up your data and formatting your HDD and installing your OS. It is highly likely that it will be seriously out of date in respect of security updates or Service Packs (SPs) and you would be vulnerable to various exploits whilst you go on-line to update your OS and you could end up with more of an infection problem than you have. You then have your programs to install and a miriad of other things to do, just to get back to where you are now minus Norton and an infection.

Using system restore is highly unlikely to achieve the desired result as it is commonly for system and executable files and I doubt you would be able to go back far enough to get rid of Norton if it was able to even do that.

It took me almost 5 full days to set-up this new system )when I bought it all it had on it was the OS XP Pro SP3) to what was on my old system, with all the tweaks and customisations I had made, restoring all my data files, etc. and that was almost full time and I know what it was I needed to do.

So I don’t really know what to suggest, you may need to get professional help or someone that knows computers to help (read do it for you) or you could be in a worse position than you are now.
