What is the koobface virus? I have been told it is on my network and has infected my computer and that only level 5 Cisco network specialists can fix it.
It is not a virus, but a worm.
Any decent admin can remove it.

I went to Yahoo groups web forum to get help because I have not been able to send mail to yahoo groups for two days. I wanted to know if something was up with Yahoo groups. A guy gave me an 800 number to call their support so I did and then wanted remote access to my computer. I went to a webpage where he had me open my computer and he loggied into my computer and said I had the koobface virus and that it was really bad and that my network was infected. He showed me network addresses he said were from Nigeria. He told me of two places that could fix it for me for 200-300 dollars. I suspected it might be a scam so I talked to my son who is a network guy and he could find no foreign IP addresses on our network and to do a search on google for it. I then ran Malwarebytes to see if it could find anything and it reported nothing. Then I started a complete Avast scan which is still running, then came here to see if there was any information here. I searched the web and found this link which makes me think it was maybe this scam. https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Internet/koobface-scam/td-p/218471. The guy made it seem so professional so I came here to see if anyone here knows about it. I trust my son, I just wanted to get a second opinion.
Oh, I was able to reach both of your links, no problem.
Koobface (anagram for FaceBook) is a “old” facebook worm, there has not been any new versions since 2012 so all AV vendors should be able to detect it if it is/was there or tried to enter

The best support is here, and it is free
The thing with Koobface is that it blocks access to all antivirus and antimalware sites. It also contact a c&c server which Avast would scream about… As far as I could see you have a clean system. However, unless you use it I would recommend that you remove LogMeIn
