hello, I was recomended avast from wilders forum, I used their discount code. I just formatted and reinstalled windows7. Avast pro was the first software installed after my drivers and windows updates.
It works light, but I was getting some lag in rift so I went to pingtest.net the browser (firefox 4) stops responding when I run the test. I went to namesco and get a fatal error.
I don’t use a firewall (other than the router) to stop stuff like this.
any ideas, so far im far from impressed!
I am guessing the web scanner but isnt this the difference between free and pro?
I used nod 4.2 before which scans web traffic and had no problems.
network driver is up to date?
thanks in advance.
Hello stitt and welcome to the forum.
How did you uninstall nod?
What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including:
- Antivirus (AV) - other than Avast and NOD
- Firewall (FW) - You stated none now; how about in the past?
- Trial versions of AV, FW and other security programs (on-demand or resident)
- Other security software (on-demand or resident)
- If they were in the past, how did you remove them (the vendor’s uninstaller’s tool or another way)?
Are your MS Updates current?
Is your machine acting normally otherwise?

I have gone back to nod32. but thanks for the reply anyways.
It was either java or pingtest flooding packets. either way I cannot be having traffic lag pc mainly used for gaming. all good now.
thanks again.

Hi again, I hate to give up (especially after buying 2 year license) it seems it was a routing problem with virgin media, it was intermitent and the timings were unfortunate.
Have now been running it again for 2 hours with no problems, and my nod license runs out next month so all looks good.
Thanks for the frindly welcome and will probably be seeing me again.
