Hi, yesterday I catched win32.trojangen {UPX!} inside a zip; avast prompted for cleaning it, but although I specified to delete it, avast popped over and over a message, where it said that something inside the zip cannot be deleted. And prompted the alarm again and again.
I shutted the pc, rebooted it, and when I was again inside XP pro (SP1), I got a message which said somewhat like “cannot found language file”; this happens now every time I boot the pc.
What happens? It is a message related to avast? What should I do?
What file was detected as infected and what was its original location?
What is the exact error you are getting?
And install SP2, now your system is very vulnarable to all kinds of malware and hackers.
Even better, install ALL security patches/updates and not only for XP but for ALL applications you have there like MS-Office and others.
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.
Access denied means, generally, that the file is in use by another process (program) and cannot be repaired/cleaned/moved/handled by avast!
Anyway, it will be good if you disable the System Restore to delete the infected files there, and then enable it again…
Hi, this is the message I got
I deleted the file manually, after the restart (I hitted the reboot button); it was a zip. The file which avast was unable to delete/repair was inside of it; now, I don’t remember what was its name (is there a way to know what it was?).
Install all patches… Can we catch the heel of Microshaft’s band-aids everytime they discover a hole inside their ultra-flawed “operative system”? Anyway, I’ve got many major updates; but I won’t install SP2. At best, I’ll stick unto Linux.
No more replies…
Ok, if I unistall avast, and re-install it, this will fix the problem?
I’m afraid it won’t.
The error box doesn’t come from avast!.. it would be necessary to find out what application it actually is (e.g. by checking the list of running processes when the error pops up - there shouldn’t be many possibilities).
Uhm… it is there some software which allows to know what app gives that error?
You can check the Task Manager - the Processes page (at the moment when the error is displayed). If you post a list of running processes, we may be able to guess which one could it be.
