So here’s the issue…installed avast, now i can’t access laptop at all. When i switch it on, it goes straight to recovery / shut down options page. Can’t do system restore, can’t do any repair, can’t access safe mode start up…the software prevents any changes at all. Tried every possible solution…and i really don’t want to do a clean install of windows 10 as there’s too much important info and sentimental info…
Does anyone have a really working solution please?
unfortunately no issue resolved, tried this: bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy but says not a recognized file, stem still boots up to troubleshoot / turn off your pc screen
But that’s the thing Bob…nothing that i access is aloud to work…i cant access any of the operation system to do anything…i tried all those methods via the link you provided…its just not happening for any of them…nothing in the Advanced Options is being aloud to work…nothing in recovery is working…just sends me round in circles…
I switch laptop on, it goes to the “choose keyword layout”, i hit enter, goes to troubleshoot / turn off pc option page. Click on trouble shoot, none of the options work in recovery manager…no options work in there.
In advanced options, system restore, error message, you must choose which windows installation to restore, close that, back to troubleshoot.
Start up Repair option, attempting repairs, startup repair couldn’t repair your pc.
Go back to previous version - we ran into a problem and couldn’t go back to earlier version.
Only other 2 options available are system image recovery and UEFI Firmware settings and neither of those do anything…
This sounds like a problem with not logging on with the correct user.
Have you changed your login information for Windows ???
I’ve only seen this once and without the proper sign in a temp user was established.
Until you correctly log into the computer, you’ll always be directed to this wrong, temp, user.
Hi Bob,
still no joy with those fixes…think i’m about to give up the ghost and just wipe the machine…but before i do that…i did a quick video which shows you visually what is going on https://youtu.be/FW_ye1VYQdw
You see in this video the screen the laptop boots up to and the different problems / messages as i went through each available option…
