Laptop unable to reboot after Boot Time Scan

Hi,

I am trying to remove some malicious program(s) from my Laptop and both the removal of identified issues with Avast and MBAM apparently removes some basic windows file that I need to boot the pc

The error message the blue screen gives me is something with c0000135… and …%hs is missing.

I was able to restore my system to the point just before installing Avast. (Thank you Avast for forcing the restore point being generated)

I have seen the instructions post on removing malware (That is why I ran MBAM, but with the same blue screen result, the restoration to the restore point then took 3 attempts which really made me start to worry, the startup in repair mode even didn’t work the first 2 times)

I would really appreciate it if I could get some help.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Is there any information I should additionaly need to mention for somone to be able to help? I am really stuck here…

saying the name of that malicious program could help. also some of them have a detailed manual way of removing them, you can often google it

if its just a malware and not a rootkit then you can try using spybot search & destroy, might help you

I would really appreciate it if I could get some help.
I suggest you follow Essexboys guide and [b]attach[/b] the logs, then he will help you when he arrive here later today http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

I will try again then. The MBAM clean from the guide makes it impossible for my Laptop to restart, so I hope I can get another restore out of it after that. I will also try to get a copy of the reports that MBAM generates, before it restarts and makes my computer unbootable.

It sounds like a zero access problem - could you run the OTL and aswMBR parts please

OK,

So I skip the actual run of MBAM this time and only do OTL and aswMBR.

From what I remember from the clean attempts, there were references to Sirefef, a rootkit, DNSCHanger and I struggle with the PING command being launched and taking 75% of cputime.

Downloading OTL now

OK that confirms the zero access just the OTL run then please as I will need to determine the variant

log included

Many thanks for your support in this EssexBoy.

Feel free to refer me to another thread if you have already explained the repair steps.

Nope everyone gets a bespoke fix here ;D

OK you have four protection services instead of the normal one

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
  1. Close any open browsers.
  2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:
File:: C:\Windows\SysNative\LKbdFlt2.dll C:\Windows\SysWOW64\nluajvys.dll C:\Windows\SysWOW64\aaaaaaaa.exe C:\Windows\SysNative\transbaseservice.dll C:\ProgramData\YiL48cCU.dat C:\Windows\SysWow64\YuQMV76J.com_

Folder::
C:\Windows\TEMP\fryfyb
C:\Users\Luc\AppData\Roaming\79DE

NetSvc::
npptnt2
jhoiguyf
AMService
kservice

Driver::
npptnt2
jhoiguyf
AMService
kservice

ATJob::

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exeWhen finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Hi,

ComboFix actually ran troublefree, other than the reboot needed some help as the shutting down bit seemed to be stuck.

the log file is in attachment

Hmm we appear to have killed it all in one go

Could you now run a fresh OTL scan for me please (only one log this time) with the following script in the custom scan box, then press quick scan

netsvcs

Alos could you check out how the rest of the system is behaving

The system runs really nice. I was struggling a bit starting firefox before and using some links in google chrome, but that is fine now.

I am going to run OTL again.

here you go

Just one remant to marmalise ;D If all is well after this I will remove my tools

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

If you have Malwarebytes 1.6 or better installed please disable it for the duration of this run

Run OTL

[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:OTL O20 - Winlogon\Notify\lkapoer: DllName - (C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\lkapoer.dll) - C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\lkapoer.dll ()

:Files
ipconfig /flushdns /c

:Commands
[emptytemp]
[CREATERESTOREPOINT]
[Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Below is what the log said.

So I am 100% sorted out then? So I can try a full scan with the avast software?

Hi,

I didn’t have internet access earlier. but I have just run a Boot time scan that came back 100 % clean.
(not even the quaranteened ones were mentioned)

So I guess that is a succes then?

I can’t believe that in this day and age, you invested so much of your time in a user of a free software program, I will have to upgrade to the Pro version now

Thanks again for all your help.

Glad to be of assistance

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

http://i1224.photobucket.com/albums/ee362/Essexboy3/Misc%20screen%20shots/CF_Uninstall-1.jpg

[]Follow the prompts on the screen
[
]A message should appear confirming that ComboFix was uninstalled

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that

[*]Click Start.
[*]Open My Computer.
[*]Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
[*]Select the View Tab.
[*]Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
[]Click Yes to confirm.
[
]Click OK.
