I have been able to log into my local library & other sites with my android tablet & laptop but just this last week not able to. I have the free version of Avast, Version 18.1.2326, virus definitions 180218-10. Could it be stopping me in some way? I do not have a lot of data so the library etc is very handy.
Easy test, disable Avast and try again.
Thank u for your answer. Please excuse my ignorance but when u say “disable Avast” what exactly do u mean? Please explain a bit further if u wouldn’t mind.
Right click the Avast tray icon, you find the option there.

I am not able to do the same for my tablet. I only have the Avast app & there is a drop down on the top left that says Avast is running & also shows anything else that downloads etc. My tablet is an Android.
Thank u, was able to connect to the library Wi-Fi OK this morning. Went to your link but not sure what exactly it was I was supposed to look at. Us oldies get a bit confused

Forgot to say it was only my laptop that connected to the library wi-fi, still no luck with my tablet. Tried at local shopping centre & at McDonalds today. It says connected but not able to do anything. Cannot get a browser page to open for either so can connect.
