Hi,
I have just updated to the latest Avast Premier on 32 bit Vista.
Build 17.1.2286
On the start screen I am informed that I am vunerable as the firewall is turned off.
However it will not turn on or fix the 2 issues that it says I have.
On the settings menu, components the firewall is shown as on and can be switched on and off!
I have repaired avast but is the firewall on or off, how do I determine that for certain please?
Also I have 2 more pc’s to update but I’m nt sure that I can trust Avast anymore…
Thanks,
Martin
I have re-boooted the pc twice since the update.

Hi Arnak
I know there are some problems with Avast 17.1.2286 and Vista, but this one is new for me as well.
So I will put it foreward on Avast Slack.

Have you tried a clean install?
Hello Arnak,
This could possibly be a licensing issue.
Could you please generate a support package and post the File ID here (or message it to me)?
Guide on support package generation: https://www.avast.com/en-us/faq.php?article=AVKB33
Thank you for reporting this,
Filip

Hi,
Report send plus by email as well.
The licence shows as subscribed.
No, I have not tried a full clean install yet as it should not be necessary and I don’t want to have to do that on 2 more pc’s thanks.
Although of course I will do if that turns out to be required.

Well, I would advise doing a clean install just to rule out a corrupt upgrade. This will rule out any errors.
There’s been no issues mentioned on the Forum with the Firewall of which you have described…
I’d suggest doing a clean install to rule out a corrupt installation or any other cause.
1.Download your version of avast!, the avastclear tool and save them to the desktop:
Avast Free Antivirus
Avast Pro Antivirus
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Download Avast Clear Tool
Uninstall Avast in Control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #3 ]
Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear. [Running Avastclear is normal mode will give a prompt to go into Safe Mode]
Check : Once uninstalled check in device manager>view>show hidden devices if there is anything related to avast with a yellow triangle… if so, uninstall it and reboot.
Install the version you downloaded.
Reboot.
Paid: If you have a paid license, insert the license key/activation code after the reboot at stage 6.

Registration in the free version isn’t needed any more. The user has a paid version.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice. ;D
I wait a day or 2 as I have sent the report up to support and want to wait to see what they find.
Ultimately I will try the re-install.
