Latest update has blocked access to my isp's homepage

Latest avast free edition update has for some reason blocked my ips’s homepage, spark.co.nz.
If I disable the webshield I can load the site. Even putting an exception rule into the exclusions it still wont work. This could potentially be effecting thousands of avast users from accessing email, the ability to pay there bills etc.

Do you have a firewall … what?

Website is opening without a problem with all shields enabled for me.
Perform a repair of avast and see if it solves the problem.
If not perform a clean installation.

Thought the clean install had worked but I still cant access the site unless I disable the webshield.
Once I deactivate the shield I can get to the site once I turn the shield back on I can get to the site for a little while then I need to turn it of again other wise no go. No problems getting to any other sites.

Here is a capture of the problem that I took.

Thanks for the link, but could you provide the full url instead?

you see it in the video … spark.co.nz

It is also in his first post on the first line.

zavrix, do you have any custom settings in the webshield ?

No everything is just default from fresh install

I am also with spark, also with Avast and zonealarm.
But I am not having any trouble accessing the site.

With the webshield on I can’t even ping www.spark.co.nz at all just times out, its very strange, turn it off and I can ping it straight away.

Are you using a proxy server ?
And I suggest to follow the instructions:
https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

No I’m not running a proxy server, are you suggesting I have some sort of malware infection?
I have run Malwarebytes it was clean pus other scans and all have come up clean.
I will do as suggested and post my logs, am very curious to see if someone can suss this out.
Thanks for the help.

Do you have the same problem in all browser or is it restricted to chrome

That’s what I was wondering as well.

… of course there is the obvious, that is that you could (probably already have) always add the URL to the “exclusions” list for now until this issue is addressed.

ADDENDUM: It works fine in my FF and I’ve got various levels of FF security addons that will often require my intervention but not at all in the case of this web site (spark.co.nz).

I have tried exclusion list and it make no difference, the browser I use makes no difference as I’ve said in a earlier post I can’t even ping the isp when webshield is on

Wow, and this is after a “clean install”?

sure is

Problem is semi resolved have posted in the other thread over in the virus section with what’s happening.

Presumably you’re referring to this topic: Problem accessing isp homepage with avast webshield turned on in the “viruses and worms” topic board.

Seems like an odd location for the topic, but that said, I see that a secure URL is what does work.
