Latest upgrade crashes the computer

I was offered an upgrade last week (standard auto update) which crashed the computer offering with it’s dying breath the message that it could not find Windows. Managed to get back with an earlier back up and tried upgrading again with the same result. Having restored again to an earlier point I am now getting reminders to upgrade that though silent seem as if the reminder to upgrade is shrieking at me.

Is there any help available?

version 2014.9.0.213

desisnstala o anti virus e instala o novamente

Thanks! I think I got that: uninstall then reinstall

You may firstly try to repair it using the Add/Remove Programs.

Had the same thing with blue screen of death! Tried repair, downloading the update again & lastly uninstalling then reinstall latest version but still crashes as soon as its installed. Had to use system restore for the moment & roll back to before the update - never had any problems before in over 4 yrs :frowning:

Try a true clean uninstall/clean/re-install.

After reboot, I always use ZSoft Uninstaller for a thorough uninstallation.

Tried that now & used Zsoft, made sure everything was removed but the same results, crashes on reboot - may have to uninstall @ & use something else now if I can’t resolve this soon :frowning:

Have you tried using the previous version? May your problem have to do with this one http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=148645.0

Hi thanks for the info - yes used system restore to roll bacl to previous version which worked initially but after a day I then get the same issue as the other post where Avast will not start

It seems that the problems happen to old users but not new users like me.

I’m going to try reinstalling windows today & see what happens - haven’t had that fun for a couple of years!

it was in 2011 when I had this fun last time.
I look forward to your good news, good luck!
