All my computers and servers are showing the latest virus definitions to be 150419-1, is this correct? I’ve tried to manually update them and it says that I already have the latest virus definitions. Since today is 4/22, I’ve never known Avast to have the same virus definitions for this many days.
I’m not using the AEP but my definitions version is 20150422-1
You’re version does not seem to be correct.
The client systems get their updates from/through the server.
So if the server doesn’t have the latest definitions, neither will the client systems.
I see that it is possible to update the clients “offline”
http://support.avast.net.au/knowledgebase/articles/193656-avast-endpoint-protection-updating-the-individu
Ofcourse that is not how it should be, but it could be a temporary workaround till the server update is working again.
Latest vps can be downloaded from: https://www.avast.com/download-update
As far as for the server not updating, I can’t help you with it.
Perhaps you can find something in a log file telling you what is wrong.
What’s the console that you use?
I’m using the avast enterprise administration console. Build JUL2013 80355.
There is a newer version: Apr2014 (8.0.369), so please update the console from Control Panel > Programs and Features first.
Actually it is version Apr2014 (8.0.369), that’s installed on the server. I need to update the EAS console on my PC.
Oh okay.
In that case follow the instructions below:
- Open My Computer and navigate to: C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Enterprise Administration\mirror\mirror
- Delete all files EXCEPT servers.def.
- Go back to: C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Enterprise Administration\mirror
- Run the mirror.exe
This will download the latest updates from Avast.
Avosec,
thank you for stepping in and helping this person.
The mirror log is showing this

Try to access: http://v2095808.iavs5x.u.avast.com/iavs5x/servers.def and let us know if the file will download.
I copied the contents of this into our server.def file replacing the existing content. I first created a new Mirror folder renaming the old folder to Old. I then ran mirror.exe and it went thru its routine of downloading everything. All seemed fine and the virus definitions updated to the current day. This morning the same issue re-occurred again!! It errored out again when trying to download the latest mirror. What should we try now?
What is the error? Is it the same?
yes it is.
