lexplore.exe (not responding) spelled the way it showed up. system slow.BSOD, on restarts and shutdown’s. A few month back I believe that “old man” gave me some pointers on this problem, but was such a hassle to do (but did), when last infected with the same thing. I don’t know where it is comming from. Question, Is there any way new to get rid of this ? Search really didn’t help much. Thanks
So do you mean lexplore.exe spelt with a lower case l (L) and not an upper case I, (or iexplore.exe) as that would indicate some malware at work, what is the files location ?
I don’t really know where it would be in winME but in XP it is in the C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer folder.
Yes, DavidR. lower case l, (lexplore.exe) Where it resides, I have no Idea. I will go to do a RESTART or SHUTDOWN, system hangs, wait, message system busy or waiting for your command, cancel, wait, moretime. If I answer this message, eather one or the other, BSOD. If I do a Control/Alt/Delete It tells me ,lexplore.exe, not responding. I have just been hitting Control/Alt/Delete twice, to get system back !
Do a system search for it, that will/should find it, but with a lower case l it is most certainly malware.
Try booting into safe mode, http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml and see if that gets past the BSOD. Try running SAS from safe mode.
When you get a BSOD, gather information, any file name associated with it, and stop error code, etc.
Will do what you suggested, will post back later. Thanks DavidR .
No problem, hopefully someone will pick up on it. I might be off-line, almost 1a.m. here.
Have completed your suggestions, so far so good, no more BSOD, holding breath !! thanks DavidR.
You’re welcome, thanks for the feedback.
