libfreetype-6.dll // unblocking a download

Hi!

I hope this is the correct section and yes, I’m a noob…

I’m on Windows 8 (… :-\ ), version 2014.9.0.2018.
Please just tell me if you need further information.

So when today I tried to open a program I run nearly every day for about a year it said “libfreetype-6.dll is missing”.
Support of that program (Manaplus) says:

1. disable silent mode in avast. 2. then reinstall manaplus 3. run manaplus, avast will delete files again and will show warning. 4. select "add the file to scan exclusion list" 5. If manaplus still broken, reinstall manaplus again.
But... I can't reinstall it (point 2) again because it seems that Avast is blocking it. All it shows is a blank page, saying (translated from German into English) "Error: Connection interrupted" and the standard stuff.

So how can I unblock it?
And is there a better way to not have this trouble with libfreetype-6.dll + Avast?

Please be so kind as to talk to me like I knew absolutely nothing… I’m really bad at this.
Thank you!

You are using a old version of avast.
Perhaps also a old vps.
I suggest you make sure having the latest versions of both installed and then try again.
I just ran a scan on that file and avast is not flagging it as (potentially) harmful.

Edit:
It is the webshield that detects it during download.

Really, after simply updating Avast everything worked fine.

Thank you Eddy

I hope it keeps working now.
In the latest avast version (2015.9.0.2208) the webshield doesn’t block it anymore.
But…
Now the fileshield is :-
I already reported it to avast.
Let’s hope it is fixes in the next vps update.
