I just bought the Internet security v 6.01289 tonight and it cannot connect to the server for updates.

by manually even updating it via the Maintenance tab as per the instructions and it cannot upgrade to the server on step 1 of 3. Every (insert number)avast.com connection is a cannot connect to error. This sucks!
What AV did you have installed before avast and how did you remove ? also make sure to uninstall any third party firewalls, you can find removal tools here for previous AV http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/ please read the info supplied before running removal tools and reboot after running.
Download the latest version of avast 6.0.1367 and save http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe then uninstall current avast version reboot and install new - add the license key you recieved via email and reboot again, should be working now ?
If previous AV’s have been properly removed you can try a repair of avast via remove programs - double click avast and scroll down to repair and accept, reboot when finished, if repairing doesn’t work then revert to the instructions above.

LOl, that worked! Dude, thanks! I was so disappointed because the free version i never had this problem.
I did update manually through the maintenance tab but I have not seen the automatic updates work but I will wait for it to happen eventually. If there is a hiccup on the automatic updates, I’ll try to update this thread for everyone. Thankgs again for the tip asyn.

Craigb, thanks for that info…I had the free version of Avast 5, (not Int Sec) previously. I removed it with the Windows settings of ‘remove/add programs’…
