Hi

I have a problem with activating the license for avast 5 pro. The file format of the license sent is license.dat, which neither windows nor avast recognises, and the elusive avastlic file is nowhere to be found.

Anybody hekp me find the licence I’ve paid for? The original URL is expired, but I have a license.dat file which I was emailed when I purchased it.

Hi Belfield, welcome to the forum :slight_smile:

What I would suggest is that you contact the sales department for avast! and have them send you the correct license file. This seems to have been an error in the sending process…

Hi belfield,

I also had same problem.
Today, I bought avast! internet security (Japanese version).
And, I received e-mail from avast! Online Store.
Software and license file were attached in the e-mail.
Then, I installed those file in my local network server. It’s like a NAS.

At that time, I had 2 problems.
One is that the installed file was old version. computer said you should download latest file in avast! Online Store.
I confused… Because, I bought the software from the site.
However, I tried to download it. Then, it was installed.

Second problem is that the downloaded “dat” file cannot be accepted as a license file. the computer said you should insert “avastlic” file.
I think it is same problem with you.
Still, I don’t know the corrective action.

So, I will call avast! Online Store directly on tomorrow.
I will let you know, if I have some information from the Store.

I was having problems also.What worked for me was. I downloaded the 5.0 installed it as a trail. Pop up the avast security program,click where it say purchase license. From there you will have the option to purchase a new or install a license key at this point install the key you have saved from the from the original purchase email.
This is the only thing that worked for me and everything worked out fine.
