license.avastlic bad or missing element

Just a bad key file with very bad customer service

I had a notice yesterday my system was no longer protected by avast and I need to update this open a can of worms to a bad update

I knew how to fix this and quickly got past this. and reinstalled the free version again, now I needed my key again.

After 45 minutes on the phone I got the key from a very rude lady from “Costa Rica” who insisted on remotely connecting to my secure laptop. I told her no over and over again. I fixed the issued I just want the key sent to me again. so she sent me a dead key file.

“license.avastlic bad or missing element”

I write code I am not stupid I tell her what is happening again she demands access to the laptop I tell her no. so she tell me then I will have to pay for help. when hell is frozen over I tell her and hang up.

I call back, can you believe this she have tagged my customer file a computer error not a bad key or avast issue… what a… I will leave this out I hang up, now I am going to have to wait for the next shift and hope I can get a good key…

There is nothing wrong with the system, in fact after doing a search and seeing the rest of the other people having issues I considered going back to one of the old AV software companies I used to use and they were just as bad or worse.

so after sitting pissed off a while. I called back “Costa Rica” and got a nice person who sent me a good key that worked

one way to find this out for your self is use “winmerge” I use this to compare code and role migrate changes quickly and maintain backups,

So the guy sent me a new key I compared the key files and they were not the same, the now one he had sent me worked like a charm…

I don’t like getting treated like this as a good customer…

if you hate your customers so must then why bother even selling the AV software to the US, exclude the US and tell us to go pound sand.

I reported and issue, then reported the key

I was polite to you and you crapped all over me!!!

Using the exact same email you used when purchasing the license you can
have avast re-send your license.

thanks for the link

this still does not resolve the issue with the person nor the problem going round with the bad updates, it seems to be a with one of their http connections during the download of the update in stage two of those files…h

Try a clean install…

  1. Download and save to HDD the desired version
    Free
    Pro
    AIS
    Premier
  2. Download and save avast uninstaller
  3. Run uninstaller from step #2 (do this for each version of avast). You will be prompted to run in safe mode do so.
  4. Reboot
  5. Install version from step #1
  6. Reboot then insert license.
  7. Reboot

your missing something or your from “Costa Rica” posting as if you from America I told you I resolved the issue!!!

Whilst you have a legitimate complaint please keep your comments civil.

The person who replied to you is an avast user like yourself, who in this case got it wrong based on your last post, which appears to say you still have a problem (but didn’t define it was with the program). Rather than in you first long post of which one line appears to say you have it resolved.

The telephone support that you contacted was a 3rd party services company not speaking directly to Avast Software. To be honest I feel this 3rd party support is sadly lacking.

I too am an avast user who wants nothing more than to help other avast users as are the majority of people who respond in the forums. Only those with avast! Team in the information to the left of the post.

I’m sincerely sorry for missing the “one” short line about you having your primary issue resolved.
If you look closely it was well hidden in your rant. None the less you will do better by choosing a
better topic title. Getting to point quickly would be a huge help and not going off in more than one
direction would be nice also. Using good netiquette in the future will get you a lot more respect.
