License can only be renewed and cannot be extended?

Is it true that license can only be renewed before expiry and cannot be extended at any time?

Say for example, I have 6 months left, and I cannot renew for another 3 years NOW to get 3 years and 6 months license? Is it that I can only renew until my remaining 6 months has, or about to expired?

So 3 years license is the maximum period that I can buy? No 5 years?

Thanks.

avast will normally alert you 21 days before you need to renew (no extend license as far as I’m aware), that should be plenty of time to renew and not to lose any of your existing period.

Three years is the maximum, legit license period, if you see anything offering longer periods, they aren’t legit. There are lots of rogues out there that will try and sell licenses on ebay or other auction sites and some web sites, etc. For your safety it is advised only to use the avast web site or its authorised resellers/distributors, also links to them via the avast web site. That way you know that what you are paying for is legit and won’t be blocked as a fake license.

Thanks for the information. :-*

I am asking because A-Squared, AVG and Avira are offering an extension of existing license. I don’t need to wait until it expires to renew. I can renew any time to extend the license period. I am just wondering if AVAST is having the same policy. I actually want to buy more years now to extend my license. But it seems I have to wait until it expires. Anyway, thanks.

You’re welcome.

I guess that is better for them to get your money and lock you in as early as possible ;D

I’m not entirely sure what the benefits are to the end user unless they are getting some sort of deal at the time. I believe there is a discount scheme at renewal time, something you could ask sales @ avast . com, you could also ask or suggest an extension to the existing period.
