License failed

I purchased Avast 6.0.1367 in December 2011 and installed it on 3 computers for 2 years, as was the offer.
The 3rd computer had a bit of trouble so it was taken back a week in system restore, and now Avast won’t work and it won’t accept the license anymore?
Is there anything I can do to restore it back as it was?

Is there any contact in Australia that I can ring to fix this problem.

Shane

did you say you did a system restore? well if you did try reinstalling avast! and see if the problem still occurs…

Yes I did a reinstall of Avast Internet Security and I still have the same problem, it is still disabled …

I also had a new license emailed to me but no luck.

Follow the instructions. Then clean install of AIS and reboot. Test it (as trial) a couple of days. If all works, add your license file.

Please report back.

  1. On this machine that you had trouble with and did a system restore, does it work properly now other than not having Avast on it?

  2. What was wrong with the machine that you had to do a system restore?

  3. Have you updated the machine since the system restore with MS/Windows Updates?

  4. Do you have any antivirus (AV) on it? Did it come with an AV on it? If so, how did you uninstall it?

  5. What other security software do you have on this machine including firewall, resident (on all the time) security protection, on-demand (only when you need it) protection – both in the past and now? If in the past, how did you delete it…by the vendor’s uninstaller tool or some other way?

  6. Assuming you have had no previous AV on this machine in the past or now and your MS Updates are current, if you reinstalled Avast Internet Security (AIS) and you previously had it on your machine and it did not work, I would suggest uninstalling it using the Avast Uninstaller Tool http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear6.exe making sure you have the download file already somewhere on your HDD first.

  • Reboot.
  • Install the newest version of Avast and reboot.
  • Get Internet access and add the license key AIS.
  • Update the Avast definitions.

I know that craigb is in Australia

Thank you all for your input and assistance.

I uninstalled it with Revo uninstaller and rebooted and installed the original “setup” but it wouldn’t update, but it then took the license again, so I rebooted and it updated normally.
All looks OK now.

Once again, Thank you to everyone for your help.
