I had to do a restore to earlier point on 1 of my laptops. It made may avast internet security 5.0 unsecured it wont update or let me undo my restore. It says the license file I saved in my documents is invalid and doesn’t work. But it still works on my desktop and other laptop with no problems. I submitted a ticket to avast. Does anyone know how to get this fixed fast so my computer is protected? Thanks!
Using system restore can have unexpected consequences.
Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
If that doesn’t work I would say you are left with a reinstall and probably it would be best to do a clean reinstall:
Download the latest version of avast, AIS 5.0.462 http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again (if you didn’t save your last download). Use that when you reinstall.
Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear5.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for AIS 5.0).

- Now uninstall (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, for AIS 5.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.
You would now have to insert your license again, but I think that it should be OK.
I will try this thanks!
You’re welcome.
