Hi Everyone,

I was using Avast for free and decided to get avast internet security pro, everything went fine but I can’t see my license in the e-mail confirmation they sent me but it is saying it’s activated for 2 years, I need to install it on my husbands computer too but I need the license, I had them send it to me again and I still can’t see it, I don’t know what to do. I hope someone here can help me.

The license (license.avastlic) file would either be attached to the confirmation/receipt of purchase email or there would be a link in the email to where you can download the license file.

You need to save that license.avastlic file to your hard drive and double clicking on it should input the license into your free version.

However, I would suggest a clean install of AIS and insert the license file into that, as some people have had a problem going from the free to AIS version.

  • Download the latest version of avast AIS 6.0.1203 http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_ais.exe, save this to your hard drive where you can find it later. Use that when you reinstall.

  • Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for both 5.x and 6.0.x).

    1. Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 5.x if previously installed and then for 6.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.- 3. install the latest version, reboot.

Obviously before doing any of this you want to have got hold of your license file. However, that said if you did a clean install as above, you would have time to get and input your license file (though the clock starts ticking on the license period from purchase).

I have already done everything you said with the exception of doing a clean re-install, the problem I am having is they resent me my lisence key and I can’t read any of the numbers to install it, it’s so frustrating. Thanks for your help.

I would say that a clean reinstall really is the way to go here having experienced a problem.

Then you shouldn’t need to be able to read any of the number to install it, as I said:

You need to save that [b]license.avastlic[/b] file to your hard drive and double clicking on it should input the license into your free version.

Have you tried that, e.g. copy that file to your husbands hard drive and double click it.

I’m still working on my computer, when I click on maintenance, then subscription I can’t put the numbers because I can’t see them in the lisence they sent…I’m sorry to be a pain I’ll keep working on it, I apreciate all your help.

I just checked the link you sent me in my last message, it said my subscription is active already…I feel like such an idiot…lol, I’ll see what happens when I install it on my husbands…it’s gonna be a long day…lol, thanks so much.
