License Key expired

Hi,

I am running Avast Home edition 4.1 Build 4.1.357.

When trying to update, I get the message The license key for this product is invalid or expired.

I registered this product in February. Do I need to re-register or there some other problem?

Many thanks

???

Check the About box. What does it say about the validity of your key?

Also, is your system clock set correctly?

Thanks
Vlk

Hi Vik,

Under Registration Key it says:
Expiration: Never
Updates expiration: Friday April 01 2005 12:57:01.

If I click License Key, it comes up with an empty License key field.

And the system clock…?

I’ve tried both things too…And They are ok…Any other sugguestions??

Sorry for the delay, Clock is correct

Sure that the year is not changed?
Sure that your Registration key is filled correctly, I mean, did you use the copy & paste method?

Yep, everything looks good with the time and date. This was working ok until a couple of days ago. I can’t think of anything that’s changed.

I’ve tried to re-enter the license code using copy and paste, but no change.

So, I’ve un-installed and re-installed using the same license key and all is fine now

Vlk, does anything remain in the Windows Registry that ‘locks’ the Registration key to be used? I mean, I suppose there is some security feature to avoid ‘duplication’ (cloning) of avast installation… So, only unistalling will do the job…
Am I right? (probably not)
Can you say something about this behavior? There are some other threads opened right now about this.
